Ditching Twitter? May I suggest blocking all their domains using your hosts file? I've been doing that for a couple of years now, and I actually have more than 100000 domains blocked in total.
I don't have an exhaustive list, but I have 30 entries for you to copy & paste into your hosts file. And I've just pushed that list to SourceHut, click on the "summary" link for more info on the hosts file and sources for my blocklist full list.

And if you "really" need to access the birdsite, you'll have to manually comment or delete the list of domains and subdomains from your hosts file.
It would have been nice for the hosts file to be accompanied by a hosts.d directory, but that's life.
